The Most Amazing Day

The great day of the LORD is near; it is near and hastens quickly... Zephaniah 1:14
I've been reading a few articles about the world’s largest atom smasher (also known as the big bang machine). Now I don’t need to emphasize the fact that I’m not an astrophysicist or anything of the sort or even how limited my knowledge is on the subject. But from what I understand this machine accelerates atoms to extremely high speeds and smashes them against other atoms. Basically the objective is to replicate the moments after of the big bang which it theorized as being the source of our universe. The cost of this machine capable of producing such an extraordinary amount of energy is $10 billion.*1

Can you imagine that billions of years ago, out of nothing there was a surge of such great power that in order to begin to replicate it, the invention of a machine worth $10 billion, made by top scientists in the field is required?

As human beings we are extremely limited in knowledge. I will make observations and deductions (tools of the scientific process) to ask some questions before directing you to the Word of God.

Firstly, to form theories we are limited to observations of the cosmos and small scale experiments. Then we are limited by time. We cannot travel to the past much less the future. Our average lifespan is only about 80 years. Knowing that the human race has been around for about 6,000 years, how little we have learned. The significant technological advances that have occurred have only just occurred in the last few centuries.

We are further limited to what can see to make theories of what we cannot. This reminds me of a little word that is of such great importance, "faith"!
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
The existence of God cannot be verified by experiments because he simply cannot be seen. Nor can we see the angels both good and evil. This is a strict limit that was placed upon us as a result of sin. It would be impossible for us to know the origin of everything were it not for God who has revealed it to us.

We are also limited by space. The human race has not been able to travel further than the moon, much less outside our solar system. There is no single machine that can leave our galaxy. Therefore, I repeat that all we can do is make theories based on observations and mathematical calculations. As accurate and concrete as that may sound it is simply not sufficient.

Our planet is not more than a grain of sand in the vast universe. By this I dare say that we know less than 1% about the universe. Therefore, all we can do is trust that God Almighty created everything.

The existence of God has no human explanation. He is eternal, without beginning or end. He is the creator of the universe, this world and of mankind. He alone deserves all worship.

Interestingly, God makes a series of questions to Job. Job was a man who faced a terrible test. But he fully trusted in God. All of us will have to face what I call "the great test of faith." This test of faith is adapted to each individual. It aims to purify, to break us down and rebuild us to the image and character of God. Only in this way can we obtain salvation and enter heaven. To remind Job that He is in control of everything, God makes him a series of questions.

Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding.
Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it?
To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Or who shut in the sea with doors, when it burst forth and issued from the womb; when I made the clouds its garment, and thick darkness its swaddling band; when I fixed My limit for it, and set bars and doors; when I said, ‘This far you may come, but no farther, and here your proud waves must stop!’
Have you commanded the morning since your days began, and caused the dawn to know its place, that it might take hold of the ends of the earth, and the wicked be shaken out of it? It takes on form like clay under a seal, and stands out like a garment. From the wicked their light is withheld, and the upraised arm is broken.
Have you entered the springs of the sea? Or have you walked in search of the depths?
Have the gates of death been revealed to you? Or have you seen the doors of the shadow of death?
Have you comprehended the breadth of the earth? Tell Me, if you know all this.
Where is the way to the dwelling of light? And darkness, where is its place, that you may take it to its territory, that you may know the paths to its home?
Do you know it, because you were born then, or because the number of your days is great?
Have you entered the treasury of snow, or have you seen the treasury of hail, which I have reserved for the time of trouble, for the day of battle and war?
By what way is light diffused, or the east wind scattered over the earth?
Who has divided a channel for the overflowing water, or a path for the thunderbolt, to cause it to rain on a land where there is no one, a wilderness in which there is no man; to satisfy the desolate waste, and cause to spring forth the growth of tender grass?
Has the rain a father? Or who has begotten the drops of dew?
From whose womb comes the ice? And the frost of heaven, who gives it birth? The waters harden like stone, and the surface of the deep is frozen.
Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades, or loose the belt of Orion?
Can you bring out Mazzaroth in its season? Or can you guide the Great Bear with its cubs?
Do you know the ordinances of the heavens? Can you set their dominion over the earth?
Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, that an abundance of water may cover you?
Can you send out lightnings, that they may go, and say to you, ‘Here we are!’?
Who has put wisdom in the mind? Or who has given understanding to the heart?
Who can number the clouds by wisdom? Or who can pour out the bottles of heaven... Isaiah 38:4-37
There is nothing greater that we can do than to praise God our creator and sustainer. Let your imagination lead you to contemplate the power of God. Understanding a little of God's power and control over the universe, have you stopped to think how the great day of the Lord will be? How the second coming of Jesus will be when He comes with great power and glory and the elements of this earth will be consumed? What great power will He manifest? Have you ever stopped to think how the most amazing day will be?

JESUS IS COMING SOON, AMEN, YES COME LORD JESUS!
