But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8
The greatest and most urgent of all our needs is a revival of the true religion in our midst. Attempting should be our first work. There must be earnest efforts to get the blessings of the Lord, not because God is not willing to bestow his blessings, but because we are not prepared to receive them. Our heavenly Father is more willing to give his Holy Spirit to those who ask, just as the earthly fathers give good gifts to their children. However, by confession, humiliation, repentance and fervent prayer, it is on us to comply with the conditions under which God has promised to grant us his blessing. Only in answer to prayer should we expect a revival. 1SM 141.
The Latter Rain
Early and late rain will descend upon you. In the East the rain falls in the time of sow. It is necessary for the seed to sprout. Thanks to the influence of these fertilizing rains, the tender shoots appear. The rain, which falls toward the end of the season matures and prepares the grain for harvest.
Just as the dew and rain falls at the beginning so that the seed can sprout and later mature, is the same as how the Holy Spirit carries out through stages of spiritual growth process. The maturation of the grain represents the completion of the work of God's grace in the soul. To improve on one’s character the moral image of God, we must do this through the power of the Holy Spirit . We must be totally transformed into the likeness of Christ.
The rain that ripens the harvest of the earth represents the spiritual grace that prepares the church for the coming of the Son of God.
At that time, the "latter rain" will descend or refresh from the presence of the Lord to give power: to the strong voice of the third angel, and prepare the saints so they can survive during the period when the seven last plagues are poured out. EW 86.
“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. John 14:15-17.Seek God in prayer and claim the refreshing power of the latter rain which is available to us if only we ask.
JESUS IS COMING!
